| Our June 25, 2010 Guest Speaker was our club member Amy Weatherall. She must have got married, eh!
Amy has worked at the Bow Valley College for the last 4 - 5 years and is currently coordinating their international Community Development projects. That is where she found EmboCraft and became passionate about its work.
This year our Rotary Club donated CDN $4,000.00 to the Granny Sewing Course through the EmboCraft Training Centre in KwaZula, Natal, South Africa.
Started in 1986 EmboCraft has an objective to alleviate poverty. Located near the 'Embo' and 'Valley of a Thousand Hills' - a tourist area with cottage industry possibilities. Unemployment rate is 35%.
The programme is a mentoring and training effort - entrepreneurial skills. Some projects: clothing, key rings. The programme encourages women to acquire skills and then share them with others.
Thanks Amy for your presentation and your enthusiasm for this life altering programme.
