Rotary 4 Way Test Competition
Apr. 07, 2025 12:00 p.m.
The Four-Way Test is a set of principles used by Rotarians as a moral compass for personal & business relationships. It is one of the tools we use to implement projects, address conflicts, solve problems and make decisions. It’s a test “of the things we think, say or do” and applied to almost any aspect of life. It can help us be more successful in reaching mutually beneficial and sustainable solutions. For the presentations today, the students were asked: What resonates with you? How and why does the 4 Way Test apply? It is suggested you use only one or two of the four components of the Test. Presentations are limited to 3 to 5 minutes in length and open to students Grade 10 – Grade 12. |

Welcome New President Chris Ritter
Quality Care for Seniors
It was in the late 90s that Dr. Hasmukh Patel, then a practicing family physician in Medicine Hat, Alberta, joined forces with a friend and colleague, Dr. Kabir Jivraj, in a quest to improve the quality of care for seniors in Alberta. Together the pair of doctors introduced their philosophy of person-centred care and their vision of ‘aging in place’ to the Palliser Health Region. This led to the creation of AgeCare in 1998 and the development of its first seniors’ care home in Medicine Hat.
What sets Dr. Patel apart is his willingness to continuously question what is truly possible in senior care, as well as his courage in defining and forging a new path forward—a path that leads to operational excellence, a purposeful work environment with engaged staff and a culture of continuous improvement. Dr. Patel started a construction division, Hestia Construction, in 2008; Hestia is responsible for the design and construction of all new AgeCare communities.
Dr. Patel completed his Executive MBA from Oxford University and led the rapid growth and success of AgeCare with a vision to transform and lead quality, services, and innovation in the publicly funded long-term care sector in Canada for 25 years as CEO. He continues to help move the organization forward in an advisory role as Executive Chairman.
When he is not hard at work leading AgeCare to new heights, Dr. Patel is an avid reader and enjoys golf, travel and spending time with his family. His travel has taken him to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Inca Trail.

Käthe Lemon is the president and co-owner of RedPoint Media Group, one of the largest publishing companies in Western Canada. RedPoint is the publisher of Avenue and The Scene, and through RPM Content Studio also creates award-winning custom publications, content-driven events and digital content with a specialization working with non-profits and charities in the arts and healthcare.
Prior to being named president in 2021, Lemon was the editor of Avenue magazine for 15 years. During that time, the magazine was named Magazine of the Year by the Alberta Magazine Publishers Associations and won multiple awards for excellence in writing, photography and design at the provincial, national and international level. Lemon was named Alberta Editor of the Year in 2011. In 2023, Lemon and her business partner bought the publishing company and are working to transition it to a social venture focused on connection.
Much like Avenue, Lemon is a relentless supporter of Calgary and works to celebrate the city’s many success stories and push the city to be even better. She is also currently the chair of the board of directors for the International Regional Magazine Association and the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association.
