On this overcast and cold winter Monday we had close to 40 members and guests at The Grey Eagle to enjoy a wonderful month-end Rotary meeting.  In the absence of President Rod McMahon, Chris Ritter, PE, called the meeting to order at 12 noon and commenced by inviting us all to sing ‘O Canada’. Joe Klassen introduced our two guests, Marlene Doherty and Chris Davis. And our in-bound exchange student Temo, from France.  We enjoyed fifteen minutes of fellowship and dinner of fried chicken, fish cakes, vegetables, rice, and pastries. The fellowship was great, and we realised how much fun there can be when we have a full house of members in attendance. Members are encouraged to attend weekly meetings.

Outbound Exchange student Matthew Vickery and his parents were in attendance on zoom. Matthew described his first three months in France and what he misses most: skiing and his cat.

TODAYS PROGRAM: THE POLIO PLUS SOCIETY BY MARLENE DOHERTY, AND A WRAP UP OF FOUNDATION MONTH
Saadat Keshavjee highlighted the work of the foundation committee in explaining the two foundations and their purposes and then introduced Marlene Doherty, a former and very well-respected past president (and former member) of this club, who spoke about the Polio Plus Society and the work of Polio Plus. As Rotary’s number 1 Humanitarian project that is “this close” to eradicating Polio worldwide and hopes that this is accomplished by 2027. Individual members may contribute US$100 per year and become members of the Polio Plus society. Today she presented Certificates and pins to our society members: Farid Bedwany, Mona Wasfy, Mike Carlin, Dan Doherty, Steve Strang, Saadat Keshavjee, Les Morgan.

Paul Harris awards were presented by Chair Joe Klassen to David Impey, Drew Turnbull, Rod McMahon, Debbie McMillan, Orlin McMillan.
