On Friday, October 3, 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Calgary West, joined by presidents from other Calgary Rotary Clubs and Cam Heke, Vice President of Stakeholder and Community Engagement at Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, visited ATCO’s Viva Homes Modular Living in Calgary.

The morning began at ATCO’s Blue Flame Kitchen, where the group enjoyed coffee and a thoughtful discussion on the challenges and opportunities surrounding affordable housing in Calgary. This conversation set the stage for the tour and highlighted Rotary’s ongoing interest in supporting community solutions to housing needs.

Following the discussion, the group was guided by Matt Vermunt, ATCO’s Director of Residential Development, through one of ATCO’s Viva modular homes. Matt shared insights into the innovative design and construction methods behind Viva Homes and explained how modular housing can play a vital role in addressing housing affordability while ensuring quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for fellowship, learning, and collaboration between Rotary and community partners. It reinforced the Club’s commitment to exploring new ideas that can help families thrive in our city.
