Calgary West Rotary was represented by President Don Edie, Gord Cox, and Les Morgan at the Foothills Country Hospice Naming Ceremony on September 16.
Our club contributed $10,000 toward furnishings for the Hospice's new resident rooms as part of its expansion from 8 to 16 beds. The Calgary West representatives toured the facility and saw firsthand the impact of the furnishings on residents, families and staff.
Representatives from the Rotary Clubs of Stampede Park, Okotoks and High River also attended. Additional clubs contributing to the project were Heritage Park, Centennial and Sarcee.
Together, the participating Rotary Clubs contributed an impressive $95,850 toward the project—a great example of Rotary Clubs working together to support their communities.
Rotary Clubs Come Together to Support Foothills Country Hospice
The Rotary Club of Calgary West was pleased to join fellow Rotarians at the Foothills Country Hospice Naming Ceremony on September 16, celebrating the completion of a project made possible through the generosity and cooperation of several Rotary Clubs.
Representing Calgary West at the ceremony were President Don Edie, Gord Cox and Les Morgan. The group had the opportunity to tour the facility and see firsthand how the Rotary-supported furnishings have been put to use.
Calgary West contributed $10,000 toward furnishings for the Hospice's new resident rooms. The project was part of the Hospice's expansion from 8 to 16 beds, helping increase its capacity to provide compassionate palliative and end-of-life care to residents and support their families.
The ceremony also brought together representatives from several other Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Clubs of Stampede Park, Okotoks and High River. Other clubs that contributed to the project included the Rotary Clubs of Heritage Park, Centennial and Sarcee.
According to Foothills Country Hospice, the Rotary Clubs involved collectively contributed an impressive $95,850 toward the project. Timmi Shorr, Fund Development Officer with Foothills Country Hospice, noted that the coordination of this combined Rotary gift is what made the support particularly special.
During the tour, the Hospice team emphasized that the new furniture makes a meaningful difference not only for residents and their families, but also for the staff who provide care each day.
For Calgary West Rotary, the visit provided a meaningful opportunity to see the results of our community support and to connect directly with the people who benefit from it.
